If you were to do this assignment again what would you do differently? (5 points)
I would redo all of the shots that didn't turn out so great. I would have also taken the time to save the video in HD instead of the low quality that it currently is.

What have you improved on by doing this assignment? (5 points)
I got a lot of experience being able to film and edit videos. I think my camera operation skills has improved significantly.

If you were to offer a future student advice about this assignment, what would it be? (5 points)
You should use things like the wooden camera stabilizer or a real tripod to help improve your video quality.

Do you have any suggestions for me the teacher if I assign this assignment again? (5 points)
You could have a schedule of camera use for the students. It was sometimes hard to secure camera time.

Shot Types

Now that you are going to create your first project with a camera, it is important to pre-plan as much as you can so that you are as productive as you can be with your time.

Watch the video on shot types. Answer the following questions and post them on your blog.

1. List each type of shot and what purpose or function that the shot has.

Establishing Shot: Establishes the shot so that you know what's going on. Is very useful but should not be used too much.

Full Shot: Can see the full subject. Should always get some of this footage, as it is very interesting.

Medium Shot: Can't quite see all of the subject. May have to move camera to show different focus points. More intimate and emotional.

Medium Close-Up: Can see head and shoulders in frame. Balance between whats going on and someone's face. Can have a lot of colour.

Close-Up: King of all shots. Right in the action. Adds a sense of intimacy. Makes it fell like you're actually there. Many details. The smaller the screen, the more close-ups needs.

Extreme Close-Up: Powerful. Should never be over-used. Really draws significance to whatever is in frame.

2. What is the best way to shoot a scene, in relation to using different shot types?
To shoot a great scene it should contain an appropriate combination of these shots. For example  if it was a very dramatic scene, you may want to use more close-ups shots. An action scene would require a wider, full shot.

3. What should you do when you plan to shoot a video? (Consider shot types, and what Robert Rodriguez said in his 10 minute film school).
You should plan out how you want your film to feel. If you know what feeling you want then you can plan ahead and choose appropriate shots. If you know what shots you want to use while you are filming, then you can be an editor while you are filming. This is just like what Robert Rodriguez said.

Bonus Question
4. What does the little boy's shirt say in the video?
It says "PARENTS FOR SALE. BUY ONE, GET ONE FREE"

I would have started working on it earlier so I wasn't rushed near the end.

Start the assignment as soon as you get it. You don't get any time in-class to do it.

Give us more class time to work on it, sometimes people can be too busy or they just forget about it.

If you were to do this assignment again what would you do differently? (5 points)
I probably would have tried to get some actual voices in the audio, but I was worried that my voice would ruin the intensity of the piece.

What have you improved on by doing this assignment? (5 points)
I learned how to assemble audio loops in both GarageBand and Final Cut Pro!

If you were to offer a future student advice about this assignment, what would it be? (5 points)
I tried using GarageBand to assemble an audio piece first. I wold recommend playing around with it only if you have extra time, otherwise it's not worth it.

Do you have any suggestions for me the teacher if I assign this assignment again? (5 points)
Show us an example of how to make it first so we have more confidence in doing it.
